Description and Details
We are delighted to offer this table solid snuff box that was crafted in Birmingham by silversmith Henry Matthews in 1902. Crafted in the Edwardian era and presenting numerous pleasant aesthetic features - an ideal complementary piece to a pre-existing silver collection or for display with an ornate antique table.
The exterior features heavy repousse designs of acanthus scrolls and floral motifs that embellish the underlying large size and the exquisitely curved sides. The interior features a light silver gilt which has been slightly worn due to the age of this antique item.
The box's lid closes smoothly and shuts tight as designed and the solid wide base makes for a sturdy and practical table snuff box (even for other uses such as pills/small items). This snuff box is fully hallmarked with the Birmingham anchor, maker's mark, date mark and the silver lion mark.
- Fully Hallmarked - "HM", Birmingham Anchor, Silver Lion and Date Mark 1902.
- Captivating size and repousse design.
