Description and Details
This Imperial Russian silver spoon was made in Moscow c.1860s. The maker's marks are unknown, however, the town mark used is for Moscow in the mid 19th century.
The spoon's highlighting feature is unquestionably the rear of the bowl upon which an intricately chased design is further embellished with a gilt background and a niello foreground. All the other parts of the spoon are equally gilded in a rich gold plate.
The size and weight of the spoon are also larger than standard spoons whilst keeping all the common features such as the aesthetic circular curvature and the twisted handle.
Due to its age, the niello is worn and some areas of the surface have some wear which causes the gilding to reflect differently (inside of the spoon bowl).
The handle is fully hallmarked with the maker's mark, assay, town mark, and the 84 Zolotnik Mark (Standard Russian Purity).

Condition
Good Condition - Please bear in mind the item is antique and shows signs of surface wear. The niello has some areas of wear and the surface wear in the inside face of the spoon causes the gilding to appear in a slightly different tone due to the reflection. There are no dents, cracks or bends. Please refer to the photographs to examine the condition in further detail.
