Description and Details
This compact yet well-crafted snuff box was made by silversmith Thomas Shaw in Birmingham, 1837.
The exterior features classic Georgian engine turned motifs on the lid and base whilst the sides feature a high polish finish. Interior-wise, this snuff box has been gilded and is in good condition.
The hinge and lid of the box function flawlessly with a smooth and secure closure of the lid. The cartouche in the centre of the lid has been lightly monogrammed (visible from certain angles).
The craftsmanship and feel in hand are excellent - as expected with Birmingham made silverware, the high-quality finish and precision are evident in hand.
All hallmarks are present: Birmingham anchor, Georgian head, date mark, silver lion and the maker's mark "TS".
