Description and Details
We are delighted to offer this splendid pair of solid silver Victorian grape scissors made by silversmith John Gilbert in Birmingham, 1865.
The scissors are boxed in their original fitted case with a blue velvet lining on the interior. The box itself is in damaged condition due to age with one loose hinge, however, the box can still be closed/opened.
The scissors are in fabulous and almost mint condition for their age with very little wear and crisp engravings throughout.
A wonderful and typical Victorian style and design are applied throughout with elegant curves and fine foliate hand engravings.
The pivoting point of the scissors features a particularly beautiful grape and vine leaf motif, appropriately decorated for its original intended purpose.
The reverse side presents a lovely crest and clear hallmarks on each side of the handle.
