We are delighted to offer this splendid antique late Victorian peridot necklace made c.1890 and with its original fitted box.
The pendant is made in 14ct antique gold and presents a highly elaborate and intricate design. Taking inspiration from nature's beautiful patterns and motifs, the necklace features a foliate scroll-like motif at the top from which another foliate wreath swings freely below.
In the centre, a gorgeous peridot has been mounted in very fine claws, drawing one's attention to the centre of the piece with one contrasting accent. Its quality and craftsmanship can be further appreciated by looking at the further embellished seed pearls of various sizes, meticulously set and even right up to the bail.
The goldsmithing and design are impressive in their own right and are a testament to the intricacy of the Victorians, featuring such a fine, free-flowing and crisp design.
The bottom pearl is also suspended and the pendant comes to life upon wearing, with the movement of the freely moving parts in full effect.
