Antique Victorian 18ct Gold Garnet Cabochon Pendant Necklace - c.1840

We are delighted to offer this majestic antique Victorian garnet cabochon pendant necklace set in 18ct gold and made in the early Victorian period c.1840. The gold mount presents an opulent and elegant shape with a very three-dimensional design. The central garnet cabochon is encompassed by scrolled and foliate motifs that flow into one another. The garnet has an enchanting hue and changes shades very dramatically depending on the angle and source of lighting; from a very dark cherry red to a lighter pinkish red under daylight. A modestly sized yet remarkable piece of fine Victorian jewellery whether it be a special gift or for a personal addition. This pendant would make for a perfect addition for the distinguished antique jewellery lover and a conversation starter upon wearing. Garnet is known to be the birthstone for January.

The pendant is unmarked as is common with articles of this period and as such we have tested it fully with results indicating 18ct solid gold.  Ready to wear out of the box: All of our pendants also include the photographed thinner complimentary 9ct solid gold (modern) chain so that you can enjoy your newly acquired treasure straight out of the box. The antique and heavier belcher chain is for display purposes only. 

All of our jewellery comes with a complimentary hard shell gift box with a velvet interior.

Condition: great antique condition with no major issues/damage. Some old scratches on the reverse side, however nothing significant nor visible from the front. The pendant bail may be a later replacement and is not solid gold.  

We aim to overemphasize and state these issues to avoid disappointment and thus please rest assured they are not significant nor affect the usage of the items.
