Description and Details
This silver toothpick/snuff box was made by silversmith Gourdel Vales & Co in London, 1911. The box features a variety of unique features: the most apparent being the purple guilloche enamel on the lid. Despite its compact size, the box is not shy of vivid aesthetics from the guilloche enamel to the contrasting inner silver gilding.
The capsule-shaped and thin profile design makes for an ideal toothpick/pill/snuff box for carrying on with no compromise in terms of design nor portability.
The construction quality is finely finished with a seamless hinge and closure of the lid. Upon holding the box in hand, the compact yet relatively dense weight of the box is apparent - a feeling of reassuring quality.
Overall, this box undoubtedly presents a unique aesthetic design whilst maintaining portability and practicality. A superb little addition for any collectors of small boxes and antique guilloche silverware.
