Description and Details
This English Victorian solid silver box was made by Cornelius Saunders & Frank Shepherd in London, 1890. The exterior of the box features a hand-chased design with an unmonogrammed circular cartouche in the centre. The engravings feature an acanthus scroll design covering both the top and bottom of the box. In contrast, the interior has been silver gilt, adding to the vibrant appearance of this box.
Upon holding the box, the compact size and rounded edges are apparent, ideal for usage on the go. The hinge and closure of the lid function as intended with a smooth hinge action and a solid closure when shut.
The box is fully hallmarked with the maker's mark “CS FS", silver lion, London assay, and the date mark "P" for 1890.
A great addition for box collectors or for personal use of pill/snuff storage on outings etc.
