Description and Details
We are delighted to offer this superb Georgian solid silver tea caddy made by London silversmith Daniel Smith & Robert Sharp in 1765.
The tea caddy features an elegant 'bombé' canister shape standing on four feet with a detachable top lid.
The exterior features a wonderful chased floral design with very crisp and sharp details remaining with minimal wear.
In addition to the embellishments, the contrasting plain mirror-like finish of all four sides are equally alluring with the surface remaining in excellent condition despite its age (over 256+ years old).
The lid also features decorative engravings and a strawberry finial that beautifully rests on top and sits tight with a secure closure ensuring none of the contents will accidentally fall out.
An additional noteworthy point is found on both sides of the caddy - a beautiful engraved coat of arms which presents itself is very fine and exquisite detail - the craftsmanship and skill of the engraver are evermore present and evidence when seen up close/in macro images.
The caddy is fully hallmarked on the base with English hallmarks.
A wonderful and fine example of exceptional Georgian silverware ideal for uncompromising collectors, whether be it for display, collection or practical usage on a tabletop for an indulging afternoon tea experience.
