Description and Details
This silver-gilt pillbox made in France c.1850 features an intricate external engine turned design with several dotted motifs and ribbons.
The lid features a slightly raised border and a five-point star motif with ribbons interconnecting the points.
The box uniquely has been gilded both internally and externally, with some slight gilding loss around the base edges.
The lid has a perfectly smooth fit with the base. The side of the box has been hallmarked with two boar's heads - the french hallmark guarantee since 1838.
A small yet elegant piece of fine French silver craftsmanship - ideal for personal usage for carrying pills/snuff/small items.
