Antique English Georgian Silver Toothpick/Snuff Box - 1826

Description and Details 

This Georgian silver toothpick/snuff box was made by silversmith Charles Rawlings in London, 1826. The box features a classic and timeless Georgian chased and high relief design in combination with engine turned motifs on all sides of the box. The interior features a gold plate gilding, further adding to the bold and valiant appearance of the box. As keen box collectors will recognise, the capsule-shaped design with a thin profile is unique, unlike counterpart Georgian boxes which generally tend to be rectangular.

The construction quality is second to none in terms of precision, design and feel. Despite its small size and difficulty of decorating such a small object, this piece has had no corners cut with each and every part functioning flawlessly whilst still maintaining a pleasing aesthetic. The hinge and closure of the lid have a trust-worthy feel in addition to the sturdy weight of 21 grams, relative to its size. 

Overall, this box undoubtedly presents a unique geometric design yet retains all the classic features of Georgian Silverware - a subtle yet superb addition to any silver/box collection.
