Antique Chinese Silver Perfume Bottle - Wang Hing c.1880

Description and Details

This solid silver heart-shaped perfume bottle was manufactured by Wang Hing & Co - one of the leading silversmiths in Canton, China during the 19th-20th century. Wang Hing & Co being best renown for high quality exotic Chinese silver exports, this piece is of no exception - the external design features an intricate bamboo leaf motif in the foreground with fine stippling in-between as a contrasting background.

Additionally, the symmetric aesthetic proportions of the heart-shaped bottle and the smooth screw-down top demonstrate not only the intricate artistic designs but the high degree of craftsmanship that was present in the creation of their silverware.

The perfume bottle has a linked chain and the lid can be opened and closed smoothly with ease. The side is hallmarked with Wang Hing's hallmark along with the "90" silver grade mark.
