Description and Details
We are delighted to offer this magnificent silver-gilt box made in France during the 19th Century. Unfortunately, due to the worn maker's mark, we were unable to identify the silversmith.
Both the exterior and interior of this box has been fully gilt (gold plated) which not only has a lustrous and luxurious appearance but also prevents the silver from oxidation/wear.
The exterior features a stylish engine-turned/guilloche lid and sides with a "Greek Key" style border to surround the centre.
The interior is equally gilt and provides a continued indulging lustre with additional protection from the contents such as snuff/pills from oxidising the box.
The box is marked with the French silver guarantee Minerva mark and a maker's mark. The maker's mark is worn and illegible, unfortunately.A sleek and stylish box/case to hold small items of your choice such as snuff/pills/mints. An excellent piece of French silverware with a luxurious feel, aesthetic and design.
