Description and Details
We are delighted to offer this wonderful solid silver Georgian cup made by renowned silversmith Barnard in London, 1829.
The overall quality and gauge of silver on this article is very good with a thick, heavy and sturdy build quality on the flared cup, applied cast handles and foot.
The proportions of the cup are very elegant with a steady foot that features heavily chased motifs of leaves which are continued on the bottom portion of the Campagna shaped cup presenting a unique floral and naturalistic design.
In addition to its main body, the 'swan-neck' handles do not only serve a practical purpose but add another layer of embellishment that is a testament to the silversmith's skill and care presented in the craftsmanship of this cup.
The interior of the cup retains its bright gold gilding which wonderfully contrasts the high polished exterior look.
A family crest and motto "Deo Favente" meaning "God Favours" is present in the middle of the cup.
There are no leaks in this cup and thus liquids can be held within (1 Litre capacity).
Full set of English hallmarks are marked on the side of the cup.
A superb cup/trophy with a wonderful design and overall proportion, ideal for display by itself or for creative purposes, whether be it for displaying flowers or even holding a bottle of wine.
