A Magnificent Georgian Solid Silver Toast Rack - John & Thomas Settle 1823

We are delighted to offer this fabulous Georgian solid silver toast rack made by John & Thomas Settle in Sheffield, 1823. Featuring a distinguished and elegant design, impressive enough as an attraction piece on a breakfast table, yet practical and generously sized for modern-day usage - this toast rack certainly offers the most desirable traits in such a piece of fine antique silver. 

The rack is supported by four applied cast Regency-style feet that present a wonderful lion's paw, winged scrolls and floral motifs. Above the feet, a classical gadrooned border contrasts the upper racks' plain mirror finish. Six slices of toast can be held by the rack, each designed with a lovely curled design. The top features further ornamentation on the handle of foliate design with a cartouche on each side (one of them hand engraved with a crest).  

The quality and gauge of this toast rack is equally impressive as the embellishments with a very heavy and sturdy feel in hand/on the table.Owing to its wonderful mix of classical Georgian elegance and practicality, this item would make for a very suitable piece of silverware on a dining table whether be it for interior decor or to indulge in a luxurious breakfast.  The rack is hallmarked with English marks on the bottom.
