Description and Details
We are delighted to offer this magnificent pair of silver-gilt Georgian chargers/dishes made by the George Burrows in London, 1824.
This pair features an ornate chased decoration in the style of Charles II silverware with highly embellished motifs of birds, flowers and foliate patterns.
The dishes are made from a very sturdy gauge of sterling silver with the combined total weighing just over 1kg. The thickness and sturdiness of the dishes present a very reassuring and quality feel upon holding in hand and allows for the contents to be placed and displayed with confidence.
The pair features a concaved central area and a slightly raised outer border upon which the decorations have been chased. Such designs not only allow for the contents to be placed steadily, however, also adds aesthetically pleasing angles which reflect the light with a rich gold lustre.
The gilding on the front of the dish not only serves a decorative purpose for an indulging appearance but allows for the silver to be better protected from tarnishing when contents are placed within.
Due to its versatile shape and size, getting creative to display food, sweets or any matter of your choice most certainly serves as a luxurious and rewarding experience for anyone who wishes to practically use such wares.
The dishes are hallmarked to the rear side with clear and crisp full matching English hallmarks.
An impressive and striking set for those wishing to acquire a highly embellished and ornate set of silver-gilt dishes whether be it for usage or a magnificent display piece as part of luxurious interior decor.
