Description and Details
We are delighted to offer this magnificently designed large wine goblet made by silversmith Richard Sibley of London in 1869.
Crafted during the Victorian era, this goblet displays an array of ornate and outstanding embellishments starting with the highlighting feature - The "Abercorn" design (the flower-like design within the pineapple-like motif) that surrounds the entire body and foot of the goblet.
Additionally, the goblet features a beaded bezel around the top, neck and foot of the goblet.
The interior features a fully gilt surface which not only aesthetically contrasts the exterior but adds a layer of protection from the silver oxidising with its contents.
A blank cartouche is present in the centre - ideal for those who wish to add their own engravings or as a collection piece with no monograms.
Evidently, the large size is incredible in itself with a very luxurious feel in hand, however, particularly noteworthy is the excellence in the design and craftsmanship in which the Abercorn design beautifully 'tesselates' whilst accomodating for the curvature of the goblet.
Suggested Use & A Touch Of Humor
Due to the goblet's significant size and presence, this piece would certainly grace any collection or display for the uncompromising collector. Alternatively, this goblet would make for a remarkable piece of interior decor among other fine antiques, unique objects or on a dining table for personal usage and gratification.
That being said, this goblet has a staggering capacity of 1 litre, thus we do suggest to only fill them up appropriately with your drinking capacity with alcoholic beverages. As one would say "drink responsibly" - this piece certainly does not seem to be conscious nor limited by such concepts, however, we do not wish for any accidents so please do take care not to be too tempted by its large size!
Alternatively, you may wish to be creative with its usage and display other items such as bonbon sweets or flowers.
