Description and Details
This Victorian silver hip flask was made by silversmith Robert Thornton in Birmingham, 1885.
Featuring a high polish minimalist exterior with a slight curvature to fit the hip, the flask has been constructed very sturdily to a high degree of quality.
The top screw-down cap still features the original cork and screws down very smooth and tightly. The cap itself is chained to the body of the flask by a fine chain link.
The front side features a finely engraved coat of arms with the motto "PRO REGE" at the bottom.
The flask is clearly hallmarked with the maker's mark, Birmingham assay, silver lion, Victorian head and the date mark.
An exemplary piece of portable silverware in excellent condition - both suitable for collection or usage (a thorough clean for usage would be recommended).
