Description and Details
This Georgian silver table snuff box was made by silversmith Thomas Edwards in London 1836.
Upon first glance, the ornate and grand size of the snuff box is apparent with an overall engine-turned body and an intricately floral chased border on both the lid and the base.
The lid features a beautiful cast and chased floral border and a blank cartouche is present in the centre, though some minor wear is present on the cartouche and surrounding engine-turned motifs.
Each side of the box features classical Georgian reeded lines which accentuates the long rectangular shape and the overall craftsmanship shown on the box.
Interior-wise, the box is fully gilt with a rich gold plate and remains in excellent condition. The base of the box is equally matched with the lid of the box with further engine-turned motifs.
The hinge and closure of the box are excellent with a smooth & secure feel in hand.
The box is fully hallmarked with clear marks both on the lid and base.
An excellent addition to grace a box collection or as a delightful piece to place on a table for personal use and storage of small items.
