Description and Details

This Edwardian solid silver card case was made by silversmith William M Hayes in Spencer Street, Birmingham 1905.

The exterior of the card case is embellished with plain scrolling borders on the edges with a tastefully finished engine-turned design in combination with streaked lines of high polish finish on both sides.

The cartouche on the front side of the case is unmonogrammed and thus is ideal for presenting.

The interior is clean with slightly gilt lid and lesser gilding in the rest of the case.

The hinge and closure of the case function perfectly with a smooth and tight closure of the lid.

The card case is fully hallmarked with the maker's mark, date mark "f" - 1905, silver lion and Birmingham anchor.

An ideal card case for collection or daily usage - the quality construction of Birmingham silver has withstood the test of time and has been preserved in great condition - one can use the item without the worry of losing whatever is stored inside.

  • Solid Silver Engine Turned Card Case
  • Ideal Thin and Pocketable Design.
  • Made in Birmingham during the Edwardian Era

Condition

Great Condition - The box is in great condition considering the object is over 100 years old - please bear in mind the item is antique and shows slight signs of surface wear. There is one very small area on the cartouche where some scratching can be seen depending on the angle of lighting. Additionally, there are a few minor indentations on the corners. Please refer to the photographs for further details (We ensure to take photos of the faults most visibly – the issues will likely appear less significant seen by the human eye).
