We are delighted to offer this charming and novel Victorian solid silver salt/pepperette made in London in 1895 with the marks of George Unite.

Unite's wares usually being a slight cut above the rest and of unique decorative designs, this piece is no exception being modelled in the form of a knight's head or perhaps literally a knight in "shining" armour with its sterling silver shimmer.

The manner in which each element has been formed very accurately as if it is just a scaled-down version of a lifesize armoured suit makes it an immediately eye-catching piece of curiosity whether as part of a collection or sitting on a dining table.

What is particularly delightful is that the helmet's visor is functional, opening up a compartment inside to allow salt, pepper or condiments to be held within, with the pierced grill allowing for the right amount to be sprinkled upon shaking.

Overall, a wonderful and exemplary piece of Victorian novelty silverware made with impressive attention to detail, perfect for a collection display or practical usage on a dining table. Furthermore, it may serve as the perfect unique gift, rich with history, romanticism and symbolism.

It is hallmarked with English marks on the base and to the side of the gorget.

Excellent Condition - The pepperette is in overall excellent antique condition, with no damage or issues. Only very slight surface scrates as expected with age but very well kept and reflective.
