Description and Details
We are delighted to offer this Georgian solid sterling silver mug made by Charles Price in London, 1828.
This mug features an impressive and intricately decorated exterior chased design featuring a pair of rabbits and dogs on either side of the handle in addition to the detailed wildlife background of trees and vegetation.
Above: The intricacy and craftsmanship of this mug are especially evident on the rabbits' back with extremely fine lines replicating the hairs standing on their backs.
The handle features a finely chased acanthus motif thumbpiece.
The interior is fully gilt and contrasts the exterior colour well - additionally, the gilding prevents the silver from tarnishing/oxidising upon contact with whichever beverage may be poured within.
The mug sits upon a widened pedestal foot which allows for a sturdy base and sitting. As the mug has no leaks or issues, contents may be held within, allowing for not only display purposes but a more practical use with beverages of your choice.
Full set of English hallmarks are marked on the side of the mug.
