Antique Georgian Solid Silver Snuffer/Pen Tray with Decorative Floral Motifs - Barnard 1828

We are delighted to offer this beautiful English Georgian solid silver snuffer/pen tray made by Barnards in London, 1828. 

This tray would be originally used as a 'snuffer' tray, an opulent piece of silverware used to hold a candle snuffer, usually placed next to candlesticks on a table.

Upon putting out a candle's flame, the tray would serve as a luxurious manner on which the snuffer may be placed upon whilst presenting the beautiful silverware of the owner.  

Today, the tray would make an excellent pen/jewellery tray, gracing any luxurious interior whether be it on your dining table or bedside table. 

Whilst intangible through photos/digitally, the tray is made from a fantastic gauge of silver with a very thick, sturdy and heavy weight presenting a reassuring feel upon holding in hand. 

Such excellence in quality is matched by its beautiful craftmanship of the gadrooned borders, interrupted intermittently by floral decorations and the central panel which presents intricate floral/acanthus chased motifs and a stunning coat of arms in the cartouche. The engraving presents the martial arms of Carter and Greenwood. 

The tray is hallmarked on the reverse side with full English hallmarks. 

A highly recommended piece of collectable fine English silverware. Distinct with ornate decoration and with equally matching heavy gauge quality. Ideal for collections or as a practical piece of silverware to embellish your dining table/home interior.
