Antique Georgian Solid Silver Pair of Salt Cellars - Barnards 1836

We are delighted to offer this wonderful pair of solid silver Georgian salts made by Barnards in London, 1836/7 (one salt is one year later, exact same design). 

The pair presents a wonderful fluid and elegant design of four cast feet with Rococo style acanthus scrolls supporting the main body.The body of the salts have a unique scalloped design with the flared top edge resembling the likes of a rose. The craftsmanship and finish of each piece despite its compact size is impressive; crisp and defined edges, intricate contrasting embellishments between the body and feet are testaments to the silversmith's fine skills.  The interior of each salt is fully gilt with a lustrous and rich gold tone that not only contrasts the exterior silver colour but adds a layer of protection from the contents which may tarnish the silver. 

Each salt is fully and clearly hallmarked with full English hallmarks on the base underneath the bowl. A wonderful pair for those wishing to acquire an elegant manner to store and display your favourite condiments on a dining table or as part of interior decor.

Why not get creative and find alternate uses in the modern day; sorbets and ice creams would seem like a perfect match to enjoy and indulge with these cups and perhaps a pair of fine silver spoons.
