Description and Details
This intricate silver french needle case (etui) was made in c1819-38 indicated by the French "rabbit's head" hallmark for a silver guarantee. Unfortunately, the maker is unidentified for this item.
The exterior features heavily embellished reeded lines, complemented by both ends that have a gadrooned appearance which additionally aids in the ease of opening the etui.
The fit and smoothness of the lid are very precise with a satisfying and secure closure.
The craftsmanship and feel in hand are exceptional - despite its compact size, no corners have been cut in the making and thus each line and design is finished to a meticulous standard.
