We are delighted to be able to offer this magnificent solid silver cheroot/cigar case made by silversmith Alfred Taylor of Birmingham in 1853.
An impressive array of details, embellishments and features are present with this exemplary case showcasing the fine silver craftsmanship of the Victorian era.
The front side of the case features a hand-engraved "hunting scene" presenting a hunter on horseback with a natural scenic background.
The surroundings of the scene are embellished with fine engravings of acanthus leaves and scrolls.
The rear side of the case presents further engraved motifs of acanthus leaves with a central cartouche that features a monogram "MF to JW 1854".
The lid and hinge of the case function well with a good closure which ensures your content will not fall out. The proportions of this case will allow for cheroots/cigars/cigarettes to be stored within.
Alternatively, one may wish to come up with creative uses of such wonderful cases to store items that are used in the modern era.
The case is fully hallmarked with English hallmarks.
