Description and Details
We are delighted to offer this magnificent Georgian solid silver three-piece tea/coffee set made by Barnard in London, 1833/4 (teapot is marked a year later). All three pieces are decorated spectacularly with bold acanthus leaves encompassing the lower half of the body with finely stippled detailing. The elegant and fluid body shape is equally matched by their respective handles which continue an acanthus scrolled motif. The four cast feet of each piece are particularly unique with a richly engraved and pointed shape. The interior of the sugar bowl and milk jug is fully gilded - the rich and lustrous gold-tone not only serves an aesthetic purpose but allows for contents to be held within without tarnishing the silver.
All pieces are clearly hallmarked with full English marks. A wonderful addition to a silver collection, dining table or a luxurious home interior, whether be it for display or practical usage. Due to the versatile large yet tall shape of the tea/coffee pot, it may be used for a luxurious afternoon tea or an indulgent morning's coffee.
