A compact size German c.18th Century hand painted porcelain snuff box with the distinguishing "Deutsche Blumen" theme portrayed throughout the interior and exterior of the box. "Deutsche Blumen" (German Flowers) floral pattern also referred to as "Nach Berliner Art" (After Berlin Art) was a distinct and iconic floral design which adopted in Germany c1740 to 1770 commonly found on Meissen porcelain. This snuff box features a metallic mount with an interlocking fret pattern that closes shut very precisely in addition to a smooth hinge.
Porcelain snuff boxes were most prominently made and used in the 18th century with distinguishing features such as hand paintings inside and on all dimensions of the box, and unique angles/curves on the exterior that differ from similar antique items such as Limoges and trinket boxes.
