Description and Details
We are delighted to be able to offer this magnificent solid silver Georgian inkstand made by silversmith Robert Gainsford of Sheffield circa 1820 (date mark illegible).
The entire form is based from nature/fruit designs with the base featuring a grapevine leaf shape and the inkwell sculpted in the form of a peach.
This inkstand presents a high level of detailing and intricate craftsmanship which can be observed by the highly realistic leaf design with individual creases and lines one may find on a real-life example.

The central 'peach' inkwell features a cover, which upon opening, reveals a glass liner in which ink for quills, fountain pens etc may be placed within.

A full set of English hallmarks are clearly marked on the side of the leaf - however, the date letter is illegible.
A lovely piece for adding a hint of gold to your interior collection and as a practical piece of silverware to hold your pens and ink on your desktop in an indulging manner.
